Grinding is one of the most common procedures applied to glass and mirror. As you know, when the glass is cut, its edges are jagged and sharp. This creates a bad situation in terms of both the visuality of the product and security. In the grinding process, the edges of the glass or mirror are corrected with special stones. Then the edges are polished with stones that we call felt. In this way, both its sharpness is eliminated and it gains an aesthetic appearance.
At Işık Cam, the grinding process is performed with great care and skill. With the machine called Double Edger, four edges of the glass or mirror are processed on one line at a time. In this way, the product is exposed to a small number of hand touches, and our colleagues’ contact with sharp glasses is reduced in terms of occupational safety.
In order to temper the glass, the edges must be grinded and smooth.
